What researchers are suggesting and companies have yet to do

The purpose of the Trends and Challenges in Reliability seminar is to provide a forum for recognized reliability experts from a wide variety of academia and industry to express their opinions and share their thoughts on various trends and on how to cope with the significant challenges imposed by future requirements. The focus is three-fold:

TRENDS
The dramatic increase in electronics content fueled by future products such as autonomous cars, Internet of Things, LEDs everywhere, medical implants, outer space and data centres calls for a paradigm shift in the way companies should approach reliability. World-renowned expert Michael Pecht will treat the problematic relationship with suppliers. A choice of experts will discuss specific trends in the following product ranges: interconnects, components, batteries, LED applications, automotive, healthcare, data centres and satellites.

CHALLENGES
Other experts will focus upon the significant improvements required in a number of engineering disciplines that are called upon by the trends mentioned such as:

  • Consequences for thermal management
  • Accuracy of numerical and experimental analyses
  • Software reliability
