Design for reliability –  reliability capability improvement

9 May 2019, 14:20-15:00

All organizations are under constant pressure to provide a successful reliability programme. Achieving a reliability programme is critical to the success of any organization and it requires full management commitment to its success. Products are required to meet, if not exceed strict reliability targets. The programme will not go forward unless tests show that the reliability goals will be met; reliability objectives cannot be compromised in any way.

It is essential to determine potential failures in the early stages in the programme through proper accelerated testing and the ability to predict system reliability. It is important to understand the impact of product and process changes to the overall product reliability and to understand the contribution of each component in system reliability. Management requires a process that evokes strong discussion around the product to make trade-offs in order to meet reliability objectives, and at the same time achieve a return on investment.

Does this sound familiar? This talk gives examples of how to set up a roadmap for deploying design for reliability, where are areas of concern, how tools and processes may help overcome potential problems, therefore leading to reliability capability improvement.
